Anyone in this day and age who thinks that Cannabis should not be Decriminalized or Legalized is without any form of credibility because the science has proven it safe and prohibition has proven to be a costly ineffective method for reducing any potential harms. How exactly is someones health greatly improved and protected by being sent to jail? The answer is IT DOESN'T and people need to wake up so the suffering of the cannabis community so it can end once and for all. Incidentally when the Netherlands liberalized their laws towards cannabis the rate of consumption in the general population went from 1 in 8 (NZ's current usage) to 1 in 21, when members of the adult public who had stopped smoking were asked why this had happened they replied "because my social circles changed."
No longer being a criminal meant that many friendships were realized for the baseless acquaintances they truly were, a very similar phenomenon with drinking where if you don't like the people you're drinking with there's nothing to stop you from walking into a bar and drinking with someone else.
In an illegal market this is not the case and many smokers will rarely have other friends that are not users. The other side of the coin is that drug dealers don't ask for ID, in a regulated market it will be far easier to keep it out of the hands of children, in my personal opinion the protection of the development of young minds is a primary objective in repealing prohibition.
Youth are targeted by police in a consistent fashion, indeed, I asked a policeman one time what he looked for when attempting to find cannabis users, he said "groups of males under 25".
In myopthis serves to create a young generation of cop haters with criminal convictions that will find it much more difficult to be productive members of society as their experience will teach them that the system itself is not to be trusted. Vinny "MR NEWS" Eastwood
